Theodore Sykes is the former deputy campaign manager for Jonah Ryan's 2020 presidential campaign and the former Chief of Staff to Vice President Andrew Doyle. He is portrayed by Patton Oswalt.

Description[]

A former chief-of-staff to Vice President Andrew Doyle, Teddy Sykes is a seasoned political campaigner who brings decades of experience with statewide and national races to Team Jonah. A native of Decatur, Illinois, Sykes cut his teeth leading the fight in 2005 to recall Illinois Governor Benjamin “Spike” Miller and then in 2006 to recall his successor, Joann “Jo-Jo” Banks-Harrington.

Having worked for both Democrats and Republicans, Sykes likes to say, “I don’t pick horses, stocks, or politicians by listening to other people. I know a winner when I see one. But in order to see a winner, I have to see them.” Married to Marlene, a special needs teacher, and the father of three boys, Sykes is a practicing Catholic and serves on the national directorate of the Knights of Malta. He is a graduate of Canisius College where he received a degree in political science.

Career in politics[]

Vice President's Chief of Staff (2016)[]

Teddy is employed working for VP Andrew Doyle during the Meyer Administration. Throughout the first four episodes of the fourth season, he gropes Jonah's crotch repeatedly, making Jonah uncomfortable. He is fired in Convention.

Campaign Advisor to Judy Sherman (2016)[]

Teddy makes an appearance at a Bowling Alley at a Jonah Ryan campaign stop, taunting Jonah with two balls meant to resemble Jonah's. Jonah retaliates by verbally attacking Teddy, which is captured on video. The video soon surfaces online, but due to the angle of the camera, it appears that Jonah is berating at a bowling alley employee with Down's Syndrome.

In between seasons five and six, Teddy was forced to undergo court-ordered chemical castration, although it is heavily implied in Discovery Weekend that he lied about actually having undergone the procedure.

Jonah Ryan's 2020 presidential campaign (2019 - 2020)[]

Teddy, along with Bill Ericsson and Jonah's Mother, is seen adjacent to the stage as Jonah announces his run for the presidency in Groundbreaking.

At the start of Season 7, Teddy is running Jonah's 2020 presidential campaign.
