Michelle York served as the White House Chief of Staff to President Selina Meyer during her second term in office from 2021 to 2025. Prior to this, she served as the deputy campaign manager for Tom James' 2020 presidential campaign. Within the Meyer campaign, she is referred to as Tom's Amy.

From the Selina Meyer presidential website: Despite her youth, Michelle York has one of the most impressive resumes in Washington. A perennial fixture on the Hill’s annual Hot List, York began her political career as an intern to Sen. Barbara Hallowes. Prior to joining the White House staff as senior aide, York was deputy chief-of-staff and then chief-of-staff for Sen. Tom James. A graduate of Yale University where she was the recipient of the John C. Calhoun Award, her hobbies include jogging and Pilates.
Season 7[]
In Discovery Weekend, it is revealed that she and Tom James are having an affair after Amy witnesses them kissing. The affair began on December 25, 2018 according to what Tom implied when he said they had been in a relationship for a month.
In Pledge, Michelle deliberately runs away from Selina, and Tom tells Selina it's because she's scared of her due to their last interaction where Selina forced her to fetch a drink for her, before tripping her.
In South Carolina, Tom suspends his presidential campaign.
In Veep (episode), after a "Draft Tom James'' movement gained steam, Tom threw his hat back into the ring. His affair with York heats up, becoming more passionate and intense. However, it then abruptly ends due to Selina implying that Tom is using Michelle sexually resulting in Michelle ending her affair on July, 25th 2020(7 months after it began), resigning as Tom's chief-of-staff and deputy campaign manager, and then publicly accusing him of sexual harrasment. Her affair with Tom is then discovered by Alethia, Tom's wife, who forgives Tom but is implied to hold a lifelong grudge against Michelle.
