The 2020 South Carolina primary was held on February 23, 2020. Selina Meyer defeated Kemi Talbot in a decisive victory.

Campaign[]

Following Meyer's victory in the New Hampshire primary held on February 18, the campaigns would go on to South Carolina. Talbot's plurality of support among minority voters led to many thinking she would dominate in the state.

Following his third place showing in New Hampshire, Tom James announced on February 20 that he would be suspending his campaign.

Hacking[]

While campaigning in the state, Selina Meyer is told by former press secretary Mike McLintock that Chinese President Lu Chi-Jang is interested in helping her win the presidency in exchange for Meyer legitimizing Chinese sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands. At a campaign event with Jordan Thomas Jr. on February 21, Meyer echoed those sentiments.

On February 22, Meyer discovered that her official campaign manager Keith Quinn has connections with the Chinese and that they were pleased with what she said and that their campaign has just received an influx of cash through Gary Walsh's religious outreach programs.

Also while campaigning in South Carolina, Jonah Ryan fired his campaign staff and began focusing on more racially charged attacks.

On the day of the primary, several power outages and other irregularities prevent supporters of Kemi Talbot's from voting, resulting in Meyer's most decisive victory of the campaign so far. Jonah Ryan would reportedly come in a "distant third" place.

As Meyer would soon find out, the Chinese were only wanting Meyer to achieve the party nomination so that she can lose the general election to Laura Montez, their preferred candidate.
